Our Farming Solutions

Farming is about more than just raising the animals or growing the crop. It’s about how you overcome the obstacles that are involved. As a farmer you where many other hats to get the job done.

Check out some of the solutions we have developed for our operation to overcome challenges we have faced.

We have made many step-by-step build instructions if you would like to try them out and adapt them to your operation.

Portable Pig Shelter

Our Portable Pasture Shelter has been the perfect addition to our pig herds, especially in the cold rainy weather of East Texas Winters.

Our goal with this structure was to give an easily moveable three-sided structure to be moved along with our pigs over pasture. Something light enough to be pulled by hand, yet sturdy and strong enough to hold up to pigs and keep from being blown away in the wind. There is some give and take to accomplish these goals and through some trial and error we have come this very effective design.

This is a very cost-effective option compared to the current market available shelters for any small to mid-sized animals (pigs, dogs, sheep, goats, etc) with some upgrades and improvements to help it be more portable

Our total cost to build these (when sourcing second-hand material) is only $245 and 4hrs of easy assembly.

Overall size is 8ft x 6ft x 3.5ft

Field Feeder - Skid System

We strive to make moving our pig herds as simple as we possibly can. We developed this simple skid to house our water and feeder on one unit to be pulled from paddock to paddock with a 4-wheeler or tractor.

This skid has gone through many changes over the years and is now an essential piece of equipment to making routine pig moves a quick and efficient process.

This skid will accept many different types of pig feeders and any large tank style waterer. Currently we outfit our Field Feeding system with our own IBC tote waterer design and a Bower SF74 model 4 door Feeder.

This set up has been very effective in handling groups of 11-15 Feeders.

The total cost of a Field Feeder (including feed bin and waterer) is around $775.00 with the largest cost being the feed bin.

Time to Build: 2-hrs
